Sign up for a job and book yourself a trip to the only continent on the plant without a bank: Antarctica.

Well, there is an ATM, but you have to travel a bit to get there.

The British Antarctic Survey is looking for a few good folks who are willing to sign on for 2 1/2 year stints in the perpetually winter wonderland.

Your new home would be Rothera Base, which boasts a population of around 100 in the summer and 20 in the winter.

The people who’ve signed on range from plumbers to doctors. Many are single; some end up marrying a partner they met there.

It’s not a bad deal. Salaries start at just less than $30,000, and food and housing is provided.

It’s a great place to save money; most residents bank the better part of their salaries.

“We’ll have deposits for houses when we come back and ideally the house prices will be affordable,” said one 25-year-old resident.

Still, it pays to take precautions.

One pioneer said she had her tonsils and her wisdom teeth removed before setting off on her adventure.
