Moose runs amok in warehouse: Can you top this?
November 25, 2008 by Charlie WalkerPosted in: In this week's e-Newsletter, Latest News & Views
What’s the craziest thing that ever passed through your warehouse?
Or, for that matter, your wildest cross-docking?
Ask the guys at Castle Metals in Worcester, MA, and they’ll tell you: a 2-year-old, 900-pound moose.
The male moose, which wasn’t listed on any manifests, barged in through a loading dock door into the 65,000 square-foot warehouse.
The husky beast stopped briefly at one employee’s desk — checking his lunch, perhaps — before galloping through the warehouse and slipping out a door at the other end of the building.
The workers were stunned.
That might explain why:
- No one was able to catch the fast-moving mammal and mark him with an RFID tag,
- No one reported seeing if Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was in hot pursuit or not.

Nothing as cool as a moose but, when our building was being expanded we had a ring tail cat come visit our basement (where our warehouse is). we believe it came in on a load of bricks. we finally caught it in a humane trap in our Medical records section on the first floor.

We once had two beautiful snow white owls take roost out in our plant for about a week before we were able to get them out. We also have had racoons, posseums, and snakes.

We’ve had squirrels running around since they can enter through the break/smoking area when employees leave the door open. I don’t know if/how they ever got out though.
